28 Mar 2009 I think they’re finished now…

But not sure. The paver people came back today to redo the pavers AGAIN. Supposedly with the correct color. I wasn’t home much today so the hubby was in charge of handling that. He says the color looks like a close enough match. Tomorrow morning I’ll have to take a look-see and hopefully, all will be well again in our front yard and our pavers.

And if it isn’t…well….no matter for next week, because we’ll be sailing the high seas of the Eastern Caribbean, on the Celebrity Solstic. I SO can’t wait to be on vacation and disconnect from the rest of the world for a week!!

I spent a fortune today on some new clothes (maternity clothes, yes, the cat is out of the bag now at work so I can start talking about it now–or should I say, the baby’s out of the bag??) and just have to pack and head on our merry way tomorrow.

Will let you all know how the ship is–it looks spectacular and I sure hope it is!

24 Mar 2009 Ok, I spoke too soon. They actually messed up…

I’m beginning to think I did something very, very bad to someone in a past life regarding construction. Seriously. Because the beautiful new driveway? Well…would be more beautiful if all of the pavers actually matched.

Yes, you heard right! The last set of pavers that were put in on our walkway (which were delivered in a second shipment that we paid an extra $165.00 for) are a COMPLETELY different blend of colors that clash horribly with the beautiful first set of pavers. Oy vey.

Why didn’t we know this? Well, basically because there was sand covering all the pavers, which made them appear to be all the same colors. WRONG!! Once the sand washed off from some rain last week, the hubby noticed something was amiss.

I should really get a photo up here so you guys can see what I mean.

And that’s not all. The paver people delivered 4 more palettes of what was supposed to be the correct color pavers–GUESS AGAIN!! Two palettes were one color and two were another color–and none of them match the original pavers that were put down.

So we’re waiting, waiting, waiting…for the right color to come along. And if they can’t match it, well they get to deliver aaaaalll new pavers and start the job aaaaaalll over again. So much fun, my life is, I can’t stand it!

Will keep you posted. We’re now on Week 4 since this job commenced. And it’s getting reaaaally old. But I haven’t yelled at anyone yet. Which is an accomplishment in itself. Luis from Optimum has remained professional, as I have–and he assures me he will do whatever it takes to bring a happy ending to this dilemma.

Stay tuned!

17 Mar 2009 They did it! We have a gorgeous new driveway!

Well, well, well…someone FINALLY did something right in my world. Yes, you heard right, I have kudos today for the company who redid our driveway!! Optimum Landscaping (no website as of yet, or I would have added a link) had it done within 3 days–that’s right, 3 days!! Unheard of. The only minor casualty was a small chip in one of our front porch tiles, which hopefully can be band-aided with a little bit of grout.

But…the pavers look gorgeous, our driveway’s wider, and the city approved it with very little fuss. Now, just to get it sealed so we can actually use it! For now, I’m still parking at the neighbor’s across the street (thanks Chris and Dave!!).

Anyway if you’re in  South Florida and you’re looking for an expert company who is completely professional to create you a beautiful new driveway (or back porch, or whatever), contact Luis Morales with Optimum Landscaping at luism@optimumlandscaping.com or  (954) 659-0237. I highly recommend them.  And you know what a tough customer I can be, so if I think they were good–they’ve gotta be good.
